Earlier this week, The Fund hosted Philadelphia Eagles safety and Super Bowl champion Reed Blankenship and his wife Elsa Blankenship for a surprise assembly at John Moffet School.
As part of the special event, the Blankenships presented a check for $8,000, on behalf of The Blankenship Family Foundation, to push Moffet past its $20,000 fundraising goal for the Philly FUNDamentals campaign, “The STEAM Theme at John Moffet!”
WATCH: We were joined by CBS3, NBC10 and 6abc. Check out the CBS3 recap, here.
Studies show that students who learn via STEAM develop: a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, motor skills, self-discipline, and initiative. And thanks to the Blankenships’ support, Moffet students will soon have access to fully equipped STEAM workspaces and enhanced curriculum.
The Blankenships’ visit, which included a schoolwide assembly and a tour of Moffet’s existing STEAM facilities, inspired students and staff alike by showing the real-world impact of community investment in our schools. We are so grateful to all who donated to this campaign, and to others like it through Philly FUNDamentals.
Thank you, Reed and Elsa, for moving this campaign into the end zone!
